Shared Branching is a network of credit unions acting cooperatively to bring you more locations, more conveniently. Shared Branching is designed to make access to your credit union more convenient.

Details

History

  • Credit Unions started a new way of banking by allowing a convenient way for members to bank regardless of their location.

  • At the beginning, Shared Branching started in individual states.

  • The credit unions joined together to allow members from one credit union to use another credit union's facility to conduct their transactions. This made banking more convenient for members who were not always able to get to their credit union.

How does Shared Branching work?

  • CompuSource is an issuer of Shared Branching.

  • You would need to contact the Credit Union Service Center Network (CUSC) to sign up with shared branching.

  • After that, contact CompuSource to purchase the Shared Branching Module.

  • A stand alone computer will be connected to your network that is designated for the shared branching process. It's that easy!

Shared Branching helps your members in time of need

  • We have all walked into banks and stores with ATMs when the machines are down. Shared Branching will give the members a convenient place to go when their ATM is not available or their card is not available.

  • Shared Branching also helps after national disasters if your credit union had to be shut down for any reason.

  • The Shared Branching module gives your membership security to access their accounts - no matter what disaster comes your way.

  • Shared Branching is a convenient way to assist your membership in their needs. It makes your credit union more available to them.

  • With the convenience and assistance you are providing, your members will be given superior customer service and feel good about their credit union experience.

How to Perform a Shared Branch Transaction

Performing a Shared Branching transaction only takes a few simple steps:

  1. Inform the Shared Branching location's teller that you would like to perform a Shared Branching transaction.
  2. Give the teller the full name of the credit union you belong to and your member/account number.
  3. Present your photo ID.
  4. Inform the teller what transaction you would like to perform.
  5. Retain your receipt as normal when the transaction is completed.

Shared Branching is convenient and easy for all your members.
