Loan Posting Assistance
Getting App into Posting
Note: This tutorial will take you through the steps of using a loan application to post a loan. If you have any questions on the Loan Application, please check out our Loan Application Assistance tutorial.
Follow these steps to Post a Loan using a Loan Application.
- From the Master Menu, click the OTC icon on the toolbar.
- Click the Add New Account icon.
The New Account Program will load on your screen.
- Double Click on the Account Type of loan you are entering.
- Enter member's Control and Account Number. If you don't know the Control/Account #, you can find the member by searching by Social Security Number or Last Name.
- Click Select Member to continue.
- On the Loan Retrieval/Posting Options screen, select Retrieve/Create a Loan Application.
Note: The O-T-C Loan Posting Program is another way to post loans without applications. If you select this option by accident, click Exit and start over at O-T-C.
- The Loan Application Processing - Main Input Screen is now on your desktop. The member you selected to use is already set up on this screen. Click Select Account to continue.
- Select the Loan Application you would like to use for posting this loan. Click Edit.
Note: If there are no pre-existing applications displayed on this screen, click Add New. Follow the steps on the Loan Application Assistance tutorial to help you create the application and continue here for posting the loan.
The Loan Application Processing - Amortization Information #1 screen will come up.
Posting Loan
You have now retrieved a Loan Application from the New Account Program. In this section, we are going to go through the steps to post a loan.
- On the Loan Processing - Amortization Information #1 screen, review the loan information on the screen and make any required changes.
Note: Be sure to review other pages as needed for information such as Amount To Others, etc.
- Once you are satisfied with the loan information, click Update Application on the top menu.
- The Update Loan Application screen will come up. Select Update Status as Disbursed and Posted in the selection box and click Save Changes.
- The Loan Transaction Summary screen will not be displayed. Review this screen. If the displayed information is acceptable, click Post Loan. If you would like a hard copy of this screen, click Print Screen. See table below on the Edit Loan option.
Note: The screen above is for Open End Loans. If you are booking a Closed End Loan, you will see the two screens below. With Closed End Loans, you can set certain amounts to go to other payees. The listing for the payees entered on the Loan Application is located on the Other Distributions/Payees tab. This feature is for document printing purposes only. This will not effect how loan checks are printed.
- The Available Loan Codes screen will appear. You can select the transaction code you would like to use.
NWLN - NEW LOAN - will print a check and create a new loan for the member.
NWLT - NEW LOAN TRANSFER TO - will transfer loan to an account you select.
Click OK
You have now completed posting a loan.
Loan Documents and Checks
Follow these directions after the loan is posted to process Documents, Checks and Receipts.
- The first screen will be the Print Loan Documents program.
- Select the document you would like to print and click Print Document.
You can print out different Loan Documents by selecting the Loan Document and clicking Print Document.
Note: You can print a Loan Document prior to posting the loan. You can print a Loan Document through the Loan Application program by selecting the member and loan application you would like and selecting Print Loan Document from the Reports menu.
You can also print a Loan Document through the O-T-C New Loan program by selecting Print Loan Document in the top menu of the screen.
- Click Exit in the menu to continue to the next screen.
- If you are posting a new loan with the transaction code of NWLN, you will get the Print Checks screen next. Click the appropriate button on how you want to deal with the loan proceeds.
- The final screen is the Print Receipt screen. Click Print Receipt to print out a receipt for the member.
You have now completed posting a loan using a Loan Application.
